A house with stories to share
No. 6 Gloucester Place was once home to John Wilson, the writer and professor known to readers of Blackwood’s Magazine as Christopher North.
His Noctes Ambrosianae, or “Nights at Ambrose’s”, imagined lively tavern gatherings filled with food, drink, conversation and wit. This Christmas, we take inspiration from that convivial spirit: good company, a generous meal and time to enjoy both.

Choose from four starters, four mains and four desserts, with the same menu served for Christmas Day lunch and Boxing Day dinner.
The Shepherd’s Pairing
Add £55 per person · £160 including the menu
Named in honour of James Hogg, the “Ettrick Shepherd” of the literary gatherings, this selection brings together wines chosen to complement each course.
The Professor’s Pairing
Add £75 per person · £180 including the menu
A nod to Christopher North himself, this selection offers an alternative journey through the menu, with wines including Rioja Reserva, Pouilly-Fuissé and Champagne, depending on your dishes.
Pairings include a 125ml serving with your starter and main, and a 70ml serving with dessert. Each guest is welcome to choose either pairing or enjoy the menu without one.
